BOYS' BOWLING
REDBIRDS SET RECORD – The Alton Redbirds recorded one for the books against host Granite City in Southwestern Conference competition.
They shot a school-record 3,388 — the 17th-best score in IHSA history – for their memorable victory.
Lucas Pejakovich rolled a 793 effort to pace the Redbirds, the 11th highest series in IHSA history. Mat Gorman (738), Tyler Stevenson (659), Justin Amistadi (651) and Jacob Donahue (547) added to the performance.
“Lucas shot a 988 in the Columbia Tournament last week and was the top bowler there. He is averaging a 254 score over the past seven games, so he is doing a great job. And so is the team,” AHS coach Jeff Woszczynski said.
