The Alton Redbirds had four players score in double figures while running past the St. Mary’s Dragons 80-54 on Saturday night at Alton High in Godfrey.
The victory gave the 2-1 Redbirds third place in the Alton Tip-Off boys basketball tournament. O’Fallon won the tourney with a 55-52 victory over Carbondale in the championship game.
The Redbirds bounced back from Friday’s semifinal defeat to Carbondale by winning all four quarters against the Dragons from St. Louis. Alton owned leads of 22-15 after one quarter and 41-27 at the half before putting St. Mary’s down by 21 points to start the fourth quarter.
Ja’markus Gary and Ky’lun Rivers both scored 17 points for the Redbirds, who picked up 14 points from Moory Woods and 13 from Dante Herrin. St. Mary’s was led by Sofora Rasas’ 16 points.
