ALTON — Civic Memorial’s Allie Troeckler and Alton High’s Maurice Edwards took home top individual honors Sunday from the 2107 Alton Exchange Club Basketball Player of the Year awards dinner, held at the Atrium Hotel.
Troeckler, a senior at CM, was named the Girls Player of the Year and Edwards, a senior at AHS, won the Boys Player of the Year honor.
They were two of the many honorees at the annual affair. The Exchange Club honors players from Alton, CM, East Alton-Wood River, Marquette Catholic and Roxana high schools.
Troeckler, an SIUE recruit, led the St Louis area in scoring with 795 points and was second in per-game average with a 23.4 ppg clip. She hauled in an average of 10.1 rebound per game.
Troeckler led the Eagles to a berth in the Class 3A Springfield Super-Sectional at the University of Illinois Springfield and a showdown with eventual state runner-up Rochester.
Troeckler also won the Girls Free Throw Award Sunday. She had a free throw average of 81.5 percent during the season.
Edwards, also a senior, scored at a 12.3 points-per-game clip and helped the Redbirds to a 16-12 mark.
An MVP was named for each school, with the Players of the Year selected from that group.

The other boys MVPs included CM’s Jaquan Adams, EA-WR’s Jamie Roustio, Marquette’s Sammy Green and Roxana’s Zach Golenor.
